"Nothing about us, without us"
The Women Wing of NFB India was established on 5th october 2014 with its sole commitment of empowering VI (Visually Impaired) Women.NFB strives to achieve equal participation of VI (Visually Impaired) men and women in all its structured bodies at all levels and their coverage in all its programmes and activities. For this purpose, NFB has undertaken different measures to ensure gender balance within its decision-making bodies as well as in all the activities. Thus Women Wing adopts a twin-track approach for the achievement of goals of gender equity and equality:
•Ensuring adequate representation of women at micro, meso and macro levels so as to maintain gender balance.
•Coverage of women in various activities and programmes run by NFB for the advancement and development:
The measures include specific provisions in NFB Constitution to ensure approximately 40% representation of VI Women in the National Executive Council (NEC) , State Executive Council and at Regional Unit Levels.
Thus, the journey of representation of Women travels from State Level to National Level. In nutshell, Women Wing promotes full-participation and development of VI (Visually Impaired) Women.
